The administrator operates the fund in accordance with the rules established by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care in consultation with the fund's Steering Committee. The administrator assesses applications based on the information that applicants provide, in accordance with these rules. Funding is allocated on a quarterly basis to each eligible profession based upon size of membership. In the event that the request for funds in any quarter exceeds the funding allocated to the profession for that quarter, eligible unfunded applications for the quarter will be placed on hold until the end of the fiscal year (March 31) and considered at that time should funding allow.

Should an applicant dispute a decision, the applicant may submit a written request for a reassessment of the application as soon as possible after the notification has been received. The Director of the fund the will review the application and notify the applicant of the final decision.

The Allied Health Professional Development Fund (AHPDF) is directed by a Steering Committee comprised of representatives of regulatory colleges and professional associations. The mandate of the Steering Committee is to ensure the success of the fund by guiding the design, development, implementation, eligibility and evaluation criteria of the AHPDF, and providing collaborative advice and guidance to the fund administrator.
